Event: '"AI Across Disciplines"
Von "// Vorschläge für die Stadt Linz"
Zum Projekt
What is the event about?
AI Across Disciplines is a semester-long, interdisciplinary event where students from various academic fields - such as law, biology, chemistry, engineering, and more - work together in teams to solve real-world problems using artificial intelligence.
Each team consists of both AI-focused students and students from other disciplines, ensuring a balanced mix of technical and domain-specific knowledge.
What is the goal of the event?
The primary goals are to:
- Demonstrate how AI can be applied across a wide range of academic and professional fields
- Promote collaboration between students from different study backgrounds
- Provide students with practical, hands-on experience using AI tools and techniques
- Connect students with companies, researchers, and potential internship or job opportunities
Who can participate?
- Students from any discipline (no prior AI experience required)
- AI students who want to apply their skills in real-world, interdisciplinary projects
- Students who are curious about how AI can influence their own field of study
How does it work?
- Duration: 1 academic semester
- Teams of approximately five students will be formed (2-3 AI students + 2-3 students from other disciplines)
- Each team works on a real-world project related to a specific field
- The event concludes with a final presentation day where all teams present their work to a panel of experts
How are projects selected?
Projects will be sourced from three main groups:
- Companies
- Professors and academic researchers
- Students with their own ideas
Each project will be matched to a relevant field of study and assigned to a suitable team.
Involvement Opportunities for Companies
- Propose a project
Companies are invited to suggest real-world challenges or problems relevant to their field. These problems will be solved by interdisciplinary student teams using AI.
- Attend the Final Presentation Day
Company representatives can join the final event (either in-person or online) to observe team presentations, ask questions, and meet participants.
- Networking and internships
Companies will have the opportunity to connect with high-potential students. They may offer internships or continue collaboration with selected teams or individuals.
- Act as judges or advisors
Industry professionals may also be invited to act as project judges or provide feedback to teams during the final presentation event.
What Will Participants Gain?
- AI students: Real-world project experience, portfolio-building, and networking
- Non-AI students: Exposure to AI applications, skill development, and interdisciplinary teamwork
- All students: Potential internship contacts, and project experience valuable for future careers
